There are conflicting messages about how much exercise women need. The goal of this article is to give women insight so they can become pro active in finding out what their exercise needs are.

WHAT FACTORS DO WE FACE?

There's a lot of conflicting information about how much exercise women need and how often they need to exercise.

Research is on going so what works today in the field of fitness may not work tomorrow. That can leave women confused and provide them with an excuse to put off exercise.

There are many factors that determine how much exercise we need. Some women have health issues which must be considered prior to setting up an exercise program.

Type 1 diabetes has different requirements than type 2 diabetes. Women with rheumatoid arthritis have times when exercise can inflame their condition.

I advise all women to go to their doctor before starting an exercise program. Women with health issues need to go to the doctor for guidance.

Knowing how to exercise within their limits will add up to positive results. Exercising without guidance could cause more damage than benefit.

We also go through monthly hormonal fluctuations until we reach menopause which brings on challenges as well.

Pregnancy occurs for a lot of us. That can really shake up our ability to control our weight and alter your needs.

Age changes the requirements for exercise needs.

Sound hopeless? Not at all!

Knowledge is power.

Finding out as much as you can about yourself and what exercise choices you have will help you determine how much exercise you need.

The "one size fits all" approach to exercise is not the best path to take.

I just had a 3 level cervical disk fusion due to a sport injury. I had to research like crazy to find out what my new exercise boundaries are.

I knew it was time well spent.

Knowing who and where to go for your research is important.

Your doctor should be your main source.

The Internet has lots of websites with great information. Unfortunately there are sites that I would not recommend.

Websites that are created by the medical field are generally safe. Sites that are provided by certified fitness trainers are also worthy of your consideration.

I highly suggest you look at a person's training before you take their advise. If they don't list their background I would not consider their solutions.

I always taught my kids to have at least 3 to 5 different opinions before they make their decisions. I can't remember who taught me that but I'm grateful for that rule. It's helped me make good decisions for me.

So, how much exercise do women need? That is a question that is difficult to answer because each woman has her own set of factors to consider.
