Alzheimer is not only a difficult condition for one who is suffering from it but also for the people around him/her. During the initial stages of the disease, the patient may still be able to carry on with their daily life in the same way as before. It is necessary to consider the following tips pertaining to Alzheimers Care in order to help the patient to live as normally as possible even though they eventually tend to depend completely on the caregivers.
It is quite natural for one who is suffering from the disease to get angry and express their frustration. In order to ease out the situation:
- You make a routine so that with time the daily activities become predictable thus limiting the chances of any confusion. You can schedule activities such as medical appointments and other tasks that appear to be challenging at a time when the patient tends to be calm in their dealings.
- You can expect that things will take time to get sorted. Therefore, the scheduling needs to be done accordingly so that the patient gets adequate time to complete their daily tasks. There is no need to rush.
- You should try and limit the number of choices available so that it becomes easier for them to decide. Ask them to choose between two outfits and not from a closet.
- Give them instructions as simply as possible so that it is easier for them to understand what you are trying to communicate. You can take it one step at a time.
- Try and reduce the number of distractions so that you have their undivided attention. For example lower the volume of the television set while you are saying something or during dinner time so that they do not get distracted.
Apart from following these, you can also hire the services of specialist carers in Ireland in order to take proper care of them.
