Game maker Rovio is looking create new nests for the Angry Birds.
Bloomberg reports that the company is within talks with Starbucks as
well as other retailers to be able to to attract new clients and obtain
existing players to go out of these digital world and get real-world
goods, for example books, stuffed animals, and T-shirts. Rovio is
diversifying beyond the virtual realm to create itself more appealing to
investors pending the next IPO.
This might 't be the first physical store where Rovio is trying to
locate a roost for the avian characters. In June, the business launched a
partnership with Barnes & Noble, whereby Nook Color owners, playing
the overall game online during a B&N store, be given a Mighty Eagle
bird at no cost. Younger players get free stickers and temporary
tattoos. In exchange, B&N stores sell Angry Birds merchandise.
Rovio already sells a lot more than ten million stuffed animal
characters annually. In March, the Finnish company raised $42 million in
funding. Its current valuation is considered to be more than $1
billion.
